The WaterCop detects leaks and shuts off the main water supply line to help prevent water damage to your rental properties. The product uses an electronic ball valve on the main water line and a network of flood sensors installed near appliances and where water is present. When a leak is detected, a wireless signal is delivered to close the WaterCop electronic valve. The Pro version offers third-party monitoring and security system integration.

These smartphone-controlled bulbs have Bluetooth enabled connectivity. Users can connect more than 50 smart bulbs wirelessly. The third-generation Nest Learning Thermostat hit the market this fall. It comes with a simpler, sleek new design and a larger screen that makes it easier to read. New software, Farsight, makes the thermostat automatically display the target temperature or time when it senses movement in the room and Furnace Heads-Up lets users know about possible heating problems. Nest says the thermostat saves users an average of 10 to 12 percent on heating and 15 percent on cooling bills. This is a great “green” option for rental investors who want to set their property apart from the competition. It can be integrated with the Nest Protect (smoke and CO alert system).
